East Lothian is home to a wide range of beautiful beaches and open ocean that provide perfect conditions for the watersport enthusiast! Whether its surfing or kayaking in the waves, sailing or kitesurfing with the wind, exploring what's under the surface through diving or powering along the surface on powerboats and sightseeing tours this coastline really does have it all!

Kitesurfing, Kiteboarding and Windsurfing have all taken off at the Forth beaches of Longniddry and Gullane! The predominant westerly winds allow perfect cross shore conditions for jumping and speed moves with East Lothian's local kiting population getting plenty of opportunity to shine! Local Kite surf club offer the launching pad to learn the basics!

Dunbar plays host to the best surfable waves in the area, with local surfers having surfed wave faces as big as 12ft. Belhaven is the most exposed beach in East Lothian to different swell directions and provides the home for the Belhaven Surf Club, currently the 2nd top club in Scotland. With consistent weak waves this is a perfect beach to learn to surf. The local surf school, Coast to Coast Surf School provides lessons for adults throughout the year and children's summer courses.

North Berwick provides the perfect launch point for sea kayakers, while beaches such as Tantallon provide waves for the enthusiastic surf kayaker. There is nothing better than sea kayaking in East Lothian! With plenty of hidden coves, beaches way. Local club; Forth Canoe is the first point of call if you want to find out how to have a go.

North Berwick and Dunbar have excellent harbours for Sailors, with North Berwick also offering Powerboating, Dive charters and sightseeing trips. The Forth plays host to regular sailing regattas, and with a rich history in Sailing their are many sailing clubs to choose from. For local clubs and harbour information the first step is the Royal Yachting Association for Scotland. If your interested in Speed and power in the water, powerboating could be the answer! Seaskill based in North Berwick run powerboating courses.

Diving off Scotland's South East coast has been described as world class with a huge variety of ship wrecks and underwater cliff dives in and around the Forth, Bass Rock and the Isle of May! The first point of call for further information on Diving is through North Berwick's Dive Safari Scotland and Dunbar's National Diving College. Or by contacting North Berwick boat charters Braveheart and Aquatrek. These boats also offer sightseeing tours within the Forth.
