East Lothian Summer of Golf

East Lothian is known as Scotland’s Golf Coast and this summer there is plenty on offer for golf fans.  The season kicks off with the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open as it returns to East Lothian.  The Renaissance Club will be hosting Scotland’s National Open on the European tour for the very first time from 11th-14th July.  Defending champion, Brandon Stone will play alongside, Rory McIlroy, Matt Kuchar, Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood & Russell Knox, to name a few.

This stunning venue will host an entertainment-packed village boasting activities for all the family, fantastic food & drink outlets, music and retail experiences as some of the world’s best golfers vie for the coveted title.

The fun doesn’t stop there as the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open, one of the premier ladies golf events in the global calendar, will be played over the same course from 8th-11th August.  Defending champion, Ariya Jutanugarn is set to return to the scene alongside British stars Catriona Matthew and Georgia Hall - come and see who will ‘Rule the Links’. 

Catriona, a North Berwick lass, will be playing on home turf. This event is the final qualifier for the Solheim Cup at which Catriona will captain Team Europe. The biggest event in women’s golf takes place from 9th-15th September at Gleneagles.

Legends of the game will return for the 5th consecutive year as Craigielaw Golf Club stages the 27th Staysure Tour Scottish Senior Open from 16th-18th August, won last year by Scotland’s own Gary Orr Rose.  Paul Lawrie, the 1999 Open Champion, will tee up on home soil for the first time on Europe’s over-50s circuit.

The summer of golf ends with The World Hickory Championship, the festival returns for the 15th successive year from 20th-24th October with last year’s winner, Sweden’s Johan Moberg returning to defend his title.  The Open will be played over 3 rounds on Kilspindie & Gullane 2&3.
